Cammack’s comments on the death of George Floyd and ongoing protests throughout the country

Gainesville, FL - Kat Cammack, candidate for Congress in Florida's Third Congressional District gave her statement on the death of George Floyd and ongoing protests throughout the country.

Kat Cammack gave the following statement:

“I commented in depth on the death of George Floyd during my Facebook LIVE town hall meeting last Saturday but, as events have continued to unfold across our nation, they have weighed heavily on my heart and mind. The world is changed by our leaders’ examples, so I believe it necessary to expound on my thoughts regarding recent events.

"George Floyd’s death was tragic and horrific. The officers responsible must be held accountable for their actions. We also must learn from this tragedy in order to make our country better for everyone. As a member of the first responder family, I know firsthand that those who serve honorably hate nothing more than those who choose to abuse their power. As a Constitutional conservative, I also believe to my core that the right to peacefully protest is a cornerstone of our Constitutional Republic and must always be protected. That being said, violence, looting, and the destruction of private and public property is criminal. These actions are an injustice to all those fighting for real justice and cannot be tolerated.

"Our nation has been through a great deal over the past six months. Now more than ever, we must come together, quell the unrest, and work towards a better tomorrow."
