Candidate Kat Cammack Praises Sen. Rand Paul's and Sen. Joni Ernst's Effort to Secure Resources
Gainesville, FL- Kat Cammack, candidate for Congress in Florida's Third Congressional District, praised Senator Rand Paul (R, KY) and Joni Ernst (R-IA) for their effort to repurpose funds, ensuring the United States can purchase lifesaving materials. This reallocation will allow for a comprehensive response without placing a burden on the American people. The funds will be taken from the Presidential Election Campaign Fund (PECF), which has a balance of over $350 million and given to the Department of Health and Human Services’ (HHS) Strategic National Stockpile for more masks and other personal protective equipment (PPE).
In a release earlier today, Dr. Rand Paul said, “Here’s our choice: we can let hundreds of millions of dollars collect dust, or we can send more resources to those working hard to stem the tide of this virus. I am proud to support legislation that also implements exactly the kind of practical approach I have been fighting for in using money we already have to strengthen our response. I urge my fellow senators to quickly pass this reform."
Kat Cammack gave the following statement:
"I applaud the actions of Senator Rand Paul and Senator Joni Ernst for fighting to reallocate these funds for the good of the American people. Strong and pragmatic leadership is needed most right now. To stem the tide of this virus, we must have the resources available to our healthcare professionals and their patients. This is a common-sense and fiscally conservative approach to providing more resources in the fight against COVID-19. It is a win-win for everyone and I want to thank the Senators for their creative solution to such a pressing problem.”
